Despite Chris taking two shots, in the first end, and three, in the fourth,
Marian would not let him get away and she countered with four single shot
wins, so that after six ends, Chris led 5-4.
A shot to Chris saw him lead 6-4, only for Marian to take two shots -
to level the match, in the eighth, 6-6, going into the final end – an epic final.
Nerves, then, got the better of both players, the final end being the least
impressive of the whole match, for grouping; but Chris’ three woods were all
closer to the jack, for a 9-6 victory.
SEMI FINAL
Chris Powers into Final August 24th, 2009
Norman has had better days on the green. Possibly, the humidity got the better of him, prompting him to thoughts of real ale, so that the day was not entirely lost as he and Chris, amidst much laughter, made plans for attending the next beer festival, 10-2 to Chris – the latter moving into the final, where he would play Marian.
Marian's Magic Puts Her Into the Final August 17th, 2009
Marian played a most amazing tactical game, including sending the jack off rink, for two consecutive dead ends. How often will the contestants stand at 1-1, as they start the fifth end! Ian was leading 4-3, with two ends to play, but Marian, as in the previous round (against David), timed her comeback to perfection, with three shots over those two ends to take her through to the final, by 6-4.

Pete B Fights Back, but Loses in Last End August 17th, 2009
In the sixth end, Chris was holding three shots, in a line - a foot behind the jack, when Peter B contrived to find the gap between the jack and Chris’ woods – an apparent geometric impossibility! Kissing either Chris’ woods or the jack would very likely have given Peter the end – as it was, the three shots enabled Chris to open up a comfortable 7-2 lead and Peter was in last chance saloon. He took a shot at each of the next two ends, forcing the match to a final end, but Chris was then able to close out the match, by 8-4.
Marian Squeezes Past David in Mighty Fightback August 10th, 2009

Impressive Scoreline as Bella Beats Doreen July 20th, 2009
A 9-1 win by Bella over Doreen does not tell the story. Doreen put up 2 maximum lengths, to start the game, and both ladies left woods close to the jack, but Bella carried it to win the second end and set the tone of the match.
Lots of good woods delivered, but - in 4 of the seven ends played - Bella moved the jack by some distance; when she left it on its spot, Doreen had a go. Bella takes a big lead in the jack high competition!
Norman Eases His Way Past Hans July 20th, 2009
