Congratulations to David Norton (on right of picture), on achieving 2nd place in the Bowls drive at the Cranborne Club, on Monday, May 25th. The winner (on left) was Barry Kempton – only 2 points ahead of Norton, who shared runner-up spot with Geoff Tapesell.

An unwelcome shower, midway through the post-tea session, curtailed bowling for the day, when three of the four scheduled sets had been played. RBBG (Rochester Blind Bowling Group) bowlers enjoyed mixed fortunes, with Terry Fisher, Chris Prebble, Marian Russell, Doreen Warrington and Isabella Williams all finishing mid-table. Hans Farley struggled to find any form and could only scrape together a lowly three points, to win the wooden spoon prize.

With the bowling over, it was not the end of the day’s entertainment, as Cranborne Bowls Club’s Auberry and Doreen organized a fun quiz, involving 4 teams. Ann Hoffman, who celebrates her birthday this week, who had challenged for the lead in the bowls match (18), was in the winning team (Table 4), with a terrific score of 87 – pipping table 1 to the post on a tie-break question. Table 3 scored 79, whilst Table 2 finished a close fourth, with 78 points.

At the interval, everyone feasted on a splendid meal, which included a delicious trifle provided by Chris Prebble. Our thanks were conveyed to Barry (Kempton) and the whole Cranborne Club, before the assembled gathering sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to Ann.
