ROCHESTER BLIND BOWLING GROUP

  RBBG won last year’s first Medway Neighbourhood Watch quiz and a strong team sought to retain it, on Friday 23 September. Ev, Hans, Jean, Penny, Norman, Chris, Sandra and Brian enjoyed a boisterous session of quizzing and, with 85 points, we thought we were home and dry. But the official scorer had it at 84 and it was not the time to argue. We were tied for first place.

  To get an outright winner, each side had to nominate a player. Ev stepped forward and it is not sour grapes, just fact, that she was unlucky. She knew all her opponent’s questions, including the one he got wrong, but she only got a point for that. She had two tougher questions, which neither of them knew, and she had lost by a point. Just the way the questions fell, it can work for you or against.

  So, well done, to our opponents, and it was a fun evening, with a good spread. And who was at the heart of the organisation? - Doreen and Aubrey, again. Do they ever rest? Many thanks, to them and everyone else who helped to put on the quiz.

  Doreen and Aubrey subsequently volunteered to us that they had discovered they tallied the scores incorrectly and that we, indeed, had won with 85 marks!
