Alison v David – Wadsworth semi final

The first half of the match was played at 25/26 yards and David was quick off the blocks, shot in the first end, his last wood ‘falling over’ to take clear second, and holding three in the next end. Alison’s wood was perfectly weighted for shot but ran into David’s wood, promoting him to clear shot, but she had taken second and now trailed 0-3. He returned the favour in the third end, Alison now holding shot and she took second wood on her own to cut the deficit to 2-3. Alison ran the fourth end jack a further yard to 27, took two and now led 4-3.

With Alison short with the fifth end jack and David long it went to a default 30 yards. David took it on a measure to tie the match at 4-4. He then produced a touching wood to take sixth and regain the lead at 5-4.. Another default 30 yard jack in the second, another measure favouring David and it was 6-4. He moved the jack from the set 26 yards, his wood keeping the jack company and with a second he had moved to 8-4 to take the match, which was always tight, but David goes on to meet Maurice in the final.

Alison v Marian – Rochester Ladies semi final

Marian has had a lot of wins in RBBG competitions but today Alison pretty well always had a wood no further than a foot from the jack. If Marian got to ten inches, Alison was xix inches. Alison started the third end at 15 inches, from the jack, Marian pushed her out, Alison slipped back in. It was one of those days and it will be Alison who meets Penny in the final.
