Rochester Ladies – Alison v Marian

Marian bowled to eighteen inches in the first and set a minimum length jack in the second. Alison had shot and a measure before Marian’s last moved the jack to her own woods for three, so Alison was mightily relieved to come into second with her own final wood and just trail 0-2. Marian held shot in the third, six inches inside Alison’s wood. Alison’s final wood took out Marian’s shot, pushing it just far enough to give Alison second wood as well and tie the score at 2-2.

In the fourth on a thirty-two yard jack Marian’s second ran into her own short wood and she was three down. Her last stayed wide so Alison led 5-2, and with shot at nine inches in the fifth she extended her lead to 6-2. Clear shot to Alison in the sixth but just the one on a measure and it was now 7-2.

The seventh end was rather loose but shot to Alison for 8-2. With two ends to play Marian needed two maximums. She held clear shot in the eighth but with a measure for second and two the most she would get, it meant Alison would go through to play Penny in the final.
